Title: Heat Wave
Length: Drabble
Rating: all ages
It was too hot to be anything other than a lazy slattern, so Merlin had gratefully taken the day off and was sprawled on his back, eyes closed, in the forest. He wished he had a spell that would get rid of the heat or the humidity. Footsteps approached, and Merlin briefly considered getting up for about an eighth of a second, before he realized that A) that would be a waste of energy, and B) it was only Arthur, anyway.
The footsteps drew nearer and stopped about a foot away from Merlin. He waited for Arthur to say something annoying and prattish, but there was only an extended silence, and then the unmistakable thump of Arthur throwing himself on the ground next to him.
"Go 'way," Merlin said. "It's my day off, Sire."
"Shut up, Merlin." Arthur replied, sounding as exhausted as Merlin felt. "You can be an idiot when it's cooler, yeah?"
