Title: Stick to the Status Quo
Length: Drabble (293)
Rating: all ages
Summary: "That invitation was only for the prettier Evans twin."
Warnings: Language, etc.
Notes:
An unofficial sequel to the fic I haven't written yet, the one in which Ryan dresses in drag at some point, in an attempt to prove that Sharpay is not prettier than he is -- and somehow, things spiral out of control. This is after he goes back to dressing fabulously male. Chad POV because he's awesome.

Even the invitation had been Troy's idea, because he was made out of sugar and sweetness and light, or at least he had some kind of compulsive need to be nice to the mentally disabled, or whatever defect it was that prevented Sharpay and Ryan from being halfway tolerable on their best days.

"We have plans," Sharpay hissed.

"Um, actually," Chad said, looking away from her because he could feel the heat of her gaze and she was actually going to make him spontaneously combust, he could feel it. "That invitation was only for the prettier Evans twin."

Ryan didn't even start, he just rolled his eyes as if he'd expected that all along. Sharpay looked ready to snarl at him in fury, or something, but Ryan just placed a hand on her shoulder, holding her back through sheer force of will or some weird twin-telekinesis. "I really don't have the words to explain why I would never leave my sister to yoga-lates alone so I could spend the evening with a bunch of sweaty mouth breathers," He said smoothly.

"Yeah," Chad agreed. "If we didn't think you'd refuse, we would have talked Troy out of inviting you." And, with that business done, he turned and marched down the hallway.

"What a neanderthal," he could hear Sharpay saying behind him. Ryan probably chirped in with some rude commentary about his clothing, but Chad purposely tuned them out.

Right, then, note to self - those two are only human if you manage to pry them away from each other and taser them a few times. Chad ran a hand through his curls, glad to see that they were finally growing back in. "I'll never cut you again," he whispered to his pride and joy.

"I want to see life. I want to hold it in my hands. I want to leave a footprint on the sand of a desert island. I want to play football with people. I want... I want everything."
