The first time, it had been eerie, but now Ariel truly loved it. She slipped on her shoes, the solid soles warm against her feet, and walked slowly down the hallway. The strange, still near-alien sound of her footsteps echoing off the smooth stone walls reverberated through the air, like laughter, or the wash of the Ocean's waves over the shore. Ariel turned, paused, and then walked back the way she came.
