O.O What is wrong with these people? Why do they think that Rodney's allergy is a joke?

I just can't wrap my mind around the fact that there are people on Atlantis that think that allergies is something to ignore or to be used as prank fodder.

I'm lucky in that the only things I have a mild allergic reaction to is bug bites (like mosquitoes) and some type of component in metal glasses frames (meaning I have to wear glasses using plastic frames). My niece & nephews aren't so lucky with their allergies to nuts. To think that there might people out there in the world who might act the way the member of the expedition act towards Rodney in regards to his allergies pisses me off.

I am glad that John laid down the law in the end because seriously, how did people not realize how serious Rodney's allergies was when he had at least 2 episodes in the mess hall?
